Irish 2000 Guineas winner Phoenix Of Spain has served both Roger Varian & ourselves so very well, jointly with the exploits of Bobby Bennu (Timeform rated 104) and Roger himself with Cambridgeshire runner up Indalo and the now Group 1 performer Lady Of Spain, so when we purchased this colt for 110,000gns we immediately picked up the phone and asked Roger if he would care to train him? - “I’d be delighted to” - was Roger’s reply: “I actually had him vetted and was keen to buy him myself”, continued Roger.

Plenty of shrewd judges came up to us afterwards and said what a gorgeous horse we’d bought and that they had pangs of jealousy. Obviously, we’d concur.

The sky’s the limit with this chap - potentially a top-class horse with, most definitely, a top-class trainer.
