Winner 50 of 2026: DIAMONT KATIE, trained by Karl Burke and ridden by Jack Nicholls (5). The ‘Bowel Cancer Screening Programme Save Lives Handicap’ over 6f at Pontefract.

A good performance from our daughter of Acclamation, who showed great promise as a 3-year-old, with a superior maiden win and two narrow but gallant defeats . But some of her most recent runs left us a little head-scratching until we investigated her wind.

We gave her a little tidy up, and it gave us the exact result we were hoping for. She travelled strongly under young Jack Nicholls and our now 4-year-old quickened away nicely as soon as they turned for home. She extended nicely inside the final furlong and was well clear crossing the line.

A good ride by the 5-pound-claimer, and wonderful to see Diamont Katie back in the winner’s enclosure. A well-deserved success for everyone involved, but most of all for our owners, who have been patient and haven’t given up on our beautiful daughter of Acclamation.

Timeform rated her victory with a 84+: "Eased in grade and returned to turf, was well backed and showed improved form to bolt up on the back of recent breathing operation (with tongue tie removed); in touch, headway over 2f out, led over 1f out, drew clear, won easily; she'd clearly benefited from the wind surgery and will take plenty of beating if found an opportunity under a penalty."
