Winner 67 of 2025: SPECTACULAR STYLE, trained by Ian Williams and ridden by Billy Loughnane. The “Stay At The Wolverhampton Holiday Inn Handicap” over 1m6f at Wolverhampton.
A spectacular victory for our son of Frankel. “I got it all wrong last time” were Billy’s first words during his debrief on Sky Sports Racing. But not today, and the Champion Apprentice sent our beautifully bred and wonderfully turned-out chestnut straight to the head of affairs. Billy managed to settle him nicely at the front end, without interfering with his big stride and ultimately stealing a few lengths in the back straight by doing so.
When turning for home, Spectacular Style was able to fill his lungs, and there was no catching him once he kicked clear inside the final 4 furlongs to win by 12 lengths.
A brilliant ride from the jockey and a spectacular performance from our gelding.
He truly lived up to his name.

Billy spoke to Vanessa Ryle from Sky Sports Racing after the race: "I got it all wrong last time. I tried to settle him in behind, and he raced the wrong way around. He was much happier today, using his big stride and dictating the pace from the front. He's very talented and showed that today, well done to his owners and the team at Ian Williams."
Timeform rated his victory with a t82, saying: "Posted his best figures since his 3-y-o days but clearly benefited from the way the race developed, slipping the field before halfway; soon led, took strong hold, drew clear after 2f, kicked on approaching 2f out, unchallenged; circumstances unlikely to be so favourable next time."
