Winner 69 of 2025: CARDINAL POINT, trained by Michael Bell, and ridden by Hector Crouch. The “Betfair Exchange Beacons Handicap” over 1m5½ f at Chelmsford.

It was always going to be a tactical affair in the five-runner contest, but Hector Crouch gave our daughter of Dubawi a confident ride, trusting her stamina would come to the fore in the closing stages. And so, it did. He delivered Cardinal Point between runners when turning for home, and she kept on gamely, running down the leading pair to beat them by a short head on the line. A rather shrewd purchase, she cost only £4,000 at the Tattersalls February Sale earlier this year, having been placed multiple times since, and now scored for the second time in our silks, picking up £4,700.00 in the process.

Well done to her owners.  What a brilliant filly she has been so far.

Timeform commented on her second victory (TFR p70+): "Is proving consistent on the all-weather and merely running her race was good enough to bag her second handicap win in a thin affair, though she did a bit better than the result in managing to run down one that very much had the run of things; patiently ridden, headway under pressure over 1f out, edged ahead dying strides."
