Winner 66 of 2025: LEXINGTON BLITZ, trained by Robert Cowell, and ridden by Eddie Greatrex. The Class 2 ‘William Hill Catterick Dash Handicap’ over 5f at Catterick Bridge.
The incredibly consistent Lexington Blitz has been knocking on the door multiple times this season, with 4 second places from 8 runs ahead of his race at Catterick Bridge. We were hopeful for a good run, with the help of a low draw, and the underfoot conditions in his favour, he ran a remarkable race on similar ground in the 3-year-old Dash at Epsom on Derby Day, where he was just touched off.
The son of Invincible Spirit showed great speed and disputed the lead within strides after a rapid start under Eddie Greatrex, who rode a double on the day.
With a top speed of 43mph, Lexington Blitz was not for catching, with his rivals taken off their feet halfway. He kept on well inside the final furlong and took the class 2 feature event comfortably by 2 lengths.
He should progress into a fine sprinter as a 4-year-old after producing a career-best victory.

"Has been hammering firmly on the door of late and finally came crashing through it, producing a career best with a fine show of speed, well positioned on the far rail from his low draw and pouring it on from the get-go; made all, travelled well, ridden final 1f, kept going well; life will get tougher once he's reassessed but his trainer is adept with sprinters and it would be folly to rule out further progress at 4 yrs."
