Back-to-Back Blitz

Mon 19 Oct 2026

Winner 106 of 2026: LEXINGTON BLITZ, trained by Robert Cowell and ridden by Paul Mulrennan. The ‘William Hill Catterick Dash Handicap’ over 5f at Catterick.

Lexington Blitz wins back-to-back renewals of the Catterick Dash!

What an achievement from our son of Invincible Spirit. The winner of a competitive Class 2 at Goodwood earlier in the season, who then finished a close third in the Epsom Dash in June. His last two runs were slightly below par, but our now 4-year-old bounced right back to form when needed to defend his crown. The pair sat prominently after a good start from a low draw, tracking the leaders during the early part of the race. Lexington Blitz challenged towards the far side rail after the cutaway, and once he disputed the lead, he wasn’t for catching, winning impressively by 3 lengths.

A huge well done to Robert Cowell and his team at home, who did a fantastic job. Well done to all his owners; what a way to finish the season.

Timeform rated his back-to-back victory with a 110+, commenting: "Came into this in better heart than recent form figures suggested and produced a career best as he doubled his tally for the season, settling things quickly once hitting the front; bumped start, chased leaders, led final 1f, kept on well; there's another 5f handicap at Doncaster next week that looks a good fit for a follow-up attempt, though his prospects there probably depend on how the handicapper reacts to this."
