Winner 40 of 2026: GOLD STAR HERO, trained by Michael Bell and ridden Callum Sheperd. The ‘All Weather Handicap’ over 6f at Chelmsford.

After 146 days off, our eye-catching chestnut broke smartly from gate 1, and disputed the lead under Callum Sheperd. Our jockey controlled the race from the off and even managed to get a nice breather into him, before he led the field into the home straight. Despite his opponents trying their best to challenge our now 4-year-old, he never met another rival and went clear inside the final 100 yards to win by over a length.

Massive well done to his owners, he looks an exciting sprinter going forward.

What an half an hour for Fitzroy Stables, MPR and Callum Shepherd.

After the impressive victory of his stable companion Gold Star Hero, we were helpful that Go Lockers Go would, as well, give a good account of himself. Our son of Ardad is a free going sort, but Callum managed to settle him at the rear of the 9-runner field, before the pace lifted as they were heading into the bend. With less than a furlong to go, our gelding finished the race off very strongly towards the centre of the track, storming home for an eye-catching victory.
