Much too good in the Molecomb

Winner 89 of 2026: PERSHAADA, trained by Richard Hannon and ridden by Sean Levey. The ‘Veuve Clicquot Molecomb Stakes (Group 3)’ over 5f at Goodwood (Glorious Goodwood Festival)

Our hugely exciting daughter of leading freshman sire Persian Force proved way too good against her opposition, and really backed up her performance in the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes during last month's Royal Ascot Meeting.

Pershaada looked impeccable in the preliminary, taking the big occasion once again in her stride.

She got off to a good start under her regular jockey Sean Levey, settling nicely into midfield. There was a moment of worry, as the gap closed on our pair at the halfway stage, but Sean didn’t panic, and another gap opened just in time for our now dual Course and Distance winner to run down the eventual second horse and ultimately win with plenty in hand.

"She is extremely fast" - A brilliant performance from our speedy Pershaada, who is likely to head to the Group 1 Nunthorpe during the Ebor Meeting, against the older horses next, ahead of a trip to the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Sprint Turf in the autumn.

Our Tattersalls Book 1 recipient is the third foal and winner produced by Listed Bosra Sham Fillies' Stakes heroine Mild Illusion (Requinto), herself the leading performer out of an unraced half-sister to Listed King Charles II Stakes third Courageous.

Timeform rated her victory with a 103+: "Progressed again, continuing her record of improving run to run, reportedly being considered for a crack at the Nunthorpe (would need to be supplemented), the Abbaye presumably also an option, more obviously needed at that level, even with the massive weight allowance; mid-field, travelled well, had to wait for gap over 1f out, led last ½f, won readily."
