The standout first season sire of 2025 is STARMAN, with the likes of the Group 3 Albany Stakes, Group 2 Duchess of Cambridge Stakes and of course Group 1 Morny winner Venetian Sun, dual Group 3 winner Lady Iman, Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes placed Flowerhead, Group 2 Prix Robert Papin Green Sense etc. to name but a few, so we’re more than happy to jump aboard, in MPR’s continued pursuit of excellence. We are of the opinion that securing this fabulous colt for £50,000 at THE SALE for 2yo’s was something of a coup.

Hailing from the Tally Ho draft, out of a speedily bred Compton Place mare, who has already produced the 100-rated & 84-RPR rated siblings from her two foals to race, to date, this very athletic colt looks destined to add to both his sire’s and dam’s illustrious progenies’ successes in 2026.

Having won the 2022 & 2025 renewals of Harry’s Half Million, with Shouldvebeenaring & Song Of The Clyde, rest assured we’ll have at least one eye on that race come August, a race confined to the graduates of the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale - around 400 in total, this time - a reduced number, it has to be said, compared with previous catalogues/running’s. Reason behind the Naming of Must be Sirius "As his sire is Starman, I researched numerous names with prefixes and suffixes to Starman, but, unsurprisingly, the names that interested me were already taken. I also looked at Sirius (prefix and suffix), as this is the brightest star in the night sky. Unfortunately, the Sirius names that interested me were also taken! I was at Southwell on Tuesday evening where we were with Mike and Susan Watters watching Wicksey win his three timer. During one of our numerous conversations (as I had not made up my mind on a name), I mentioned Sirius to them, pointing out the myriad Sirius registered names and the frustration of finding a suitable one. Mike gave it some thought and came up with Must be Sirius, which we all agreed would be ideal."
