Winner 58 of 2025: ZIGGY’S ANGEL, trained by Richard Fahey and ridden by Oisin Orr. ‘At The Races App Expert Tips Handicap’ over 7f at Newcastle.

It’s always nice when patience is rewarded, and in the case of Ziggy’s Angel, huge congratulations to his owners are in order, who have been incredibly patient.

Our big, imposing, and regally bred son of Dark Angel has taken his time to come together. But the penny really dropped during yesterday’s race, where he has overcome his issues with the starting stalls and, as a result, jumped well, travelling much more powerfully, tracking the leaders. 

He showed a fantastic attitude when challenging a furlong from home, disputing the lead inside the last 100 yards and kept on towards the finish to win by ¾ lengths. A good patient ride from Oisin Orr, whose positioning gave him a fair chance in the race, and a great display from a horse still learning his job. Well done to Richard Fahey and his team at home for a nice surprise, after a day overshadowed by 2nd places, one of those from our so genuine and hugely talented Song of the Clyde running another incredible race in defeat, finishing a close 2nd in the WEATHERBYS SCIENTIFIC £300,000 2-Y-O STAKES. during the St Leger Meeting at Doncaster.

A delighted syndicate manager, Tom Palin: "It was wonderful to see him get his head in front yesterday. Everyone has been incredibly patient with him, considering the time he’s taken to come to hand, and further tolerance was required with his stall issues during the early stages of his racing career. I thought your jockey gave him a lovely ride, just helped him through the early stages and had him in positions that gave him the best chance of being able to achieve something if he was capable of doing so. He really did respond to Oisin’s urgings and he strode out lovely as we got to the line. Again, huge congratulations all."
