Operation “Epsom Derby”
Almost 2 years to the day Jeremy Brummitt bought, at the BBAG yearling sales Germany, our subsequent Epsom Derby runner up LAZY GRIFF for €75,000 - his career has proven legendary amongst the Middleham Park brethren.
We asked Jeremy to revisit the elite German Sale in an attempt to hunt down for us, this year’s Lazy Griff. He’s ticked all the boxes here with this stunning son of the Champion racehorse STRADIVARIUS. €140,000 is a whopping purchase price, however we feel he’s worth every last euro of his auction price.
Find videos of him at home:
His dam, a 2yo winner herself has already produced two black type performers with one already earning a rating that would compete fiercely in any Derby in the World.
Our colt is the sort of horse who will progress with age but his physique is one of a robust individual who ought to be very effective early in his career too, over distances of 7f+.
See Jeremy’s thoughts and reasons for buying this colt, at the sales, in the video below.
He has now left Richie's and arrived at Charlie Johnston ( next door ) watch a video of him "moving" yards:
Please take a look at the videos of him below, ridden away. Richie reports: "He is getting on really well and is a lovely individual."

Reason behind the Name, GIANT DAN BURN: Darren is the outgoing Newcastle Utd CEO and named him after defender Dan Burn. He posted a full briefing on the NUFC Instagram acccount. "The charities (hopefully!) benefiting are Newcastle United Foundation and Bright Red (a local NE blood cancer charity which is dear to my heart as I’ve witnessed the benefit of their work firsthand this past 8 months)."
