Operation Weatherbys Super Sprint
Rod Millman’s favourite race of the entire season is the Weatherbys Super Sprint - a £250,000 race held at Newbury in July each year for 2yos, limited to horses purchased for under £65,000 at the sales - it’s a race Rod has won 3 times with Lord Kintyre, Betty’s Hope and last year with our very own Anthelia. It’s also a race MPR were victorious in with Eddie’s Boy (2022) - so in purchasing a filly with the race in mind, it’s hopefully not just a pipe dream; it’s a perfectly reasonable and feasible race to target with this filly. She’ll be advantaged further in the race by her price tag of £15,000 (before commissions and sales entry costs), where allowances are given to horses as they incrementally cost less than 65k. It’s a race that fits her perfectly.
Her vendors approached us after we’d purchased her to inform us
“She’s ridiculously fast, both out in the field AND on the lunge”
This clearly bodes well ahead of her racing career.
The Weatherbys Super Sprint aside, there are plenty of other reasons to recommend this daughter of the ultra-fast stallion BATED BREATH
1 - Super tough-looking filly (resembles a colt to some degree)
2 - She looks sharp and early - she’s not oversized so should come to hand in the Spring 2027
3 - February foal
4 - Very correct conformation which ought to reduce the chances of injury
5 - Super fast pedigree - damsire = sprinter Harry Angel - Champion race mare as a great grand-dam & family of Prince Sabo. Best performer in top two generations is by Bated Breath.

7 - Qualifies for Band D races, which seriously limits the opposition cohort and are races which sometimes are allocated disproportionately lucrative amounts of prize money
& probably the most important reason to recommend her - she was ring spotted by one of the shrewdest judges in the business - Rod Millman - in precisely the manner he sourced the vast vast majority of all his good horses, especially the fillies.
We’ll probably struggle to offer a better value opportunity at any stage during the yearling or breeze-up seasons.
You’d like to think Windsor in April or Salisbury in May, Newbury in July and York in August beckon for this filly in 2027. Furthermore, we dare not dream of Ascot in June, dare we?

This year’s Goffs Premier Yearling Sale at Doncaster will see the launch of the Harry’s 750 Series, which will feature a new £250,000 bonus series, held in conjunction with the sale’s established and famous race, the Harry’s Half Million by Goffs.

The addition of the new Harry’s Quarter Million Bonus Series means eligible graduates of the Doncaster Premier Yearling Sale will now race for a total of £750,000 in Harry’s 750 Series, starting next year. The bonus series will see selected 2YO races carry a £25,000 bonus which will be awarded to any eligible Premier Sale graduate that wins the race.
