Purchased from France and sent to the mercurial trainer David O'Meara, who improves others' 'cast offs' for fun, Cold Stare is now a 5-time winner, with a highest RPR of 103
Big pot handicaps await this popular son of Intense Focus. He's just the sort of horse who reminds us of our previous David O'Meara stalwart, PENITENT.
Here he is getting ready for the new season, at home (far side):
Racing Update: Adores soft or heavy going. Loves Haydock, but probably operated at a career high level last season in the height of summer, taking a Glorious Goodwood, festival handicap, earning £19,000 into the bargain, beating our very own Magical Wish in a head bobbing finish. Suffered a heart fibrillation twice at the back end of the season, rather like Paisley Park did, earlier this NH season, before bouncing back at the Cheltenham festival, to finish close up in the Grade 1 stayers’. We’ve treated him for it, and he seems back to his best now; right as rain. Haydock and Goodwood will be on the agenda again this season, as will anywhere that offers him his beloved soft or heavy going. His last two runs at the backend means he comes into this season, feasibly, very well handicapped. He’s the perfect Saturday and Festival horse for his owners. TIMEFORM RATED 98. (He ran a nice race at Redcar on 5th April to begin his campaign, even though he is not fully wound up yet, though, and he’ll most definitely improve for that run. We have race options coming up for him at Catterick, Haydock Ripon, and Ayr in April!) His race entries/declarations will show on this page.
