Stable visit reviews from Keith Dalgleish, David O'Meara & Roger Fell.

Wed 07 Feb 2018

A lot of planning goes into organising stable visits, from selecting suitable dates, producing brochures, liaising with trainers to organise saddle cloth numbers, running orders, arranging pre or post visit social events and making sure everyone who attends has clear details of the schedule! The team always look forward to them, especially as they are a chance for owners in a new horse to meet one another, but also for us to have a catch up with everyone and talk all things racing. Often when we head to a 'local hostelry' afterwards, the afternoons can extend into evening!

At Keith's, thankfully the snow had cleared and owners were able to see our string, including the eight 2 year old's canter. There was a flurry of excitement when Keith introduced the DANDY MAN filly as “our first 2yo winner of the season” and she looks every inch the part to be that sort of filly. We are hugely excited about our string this year, with the biggest team we have ever assembled at Belstane, with 16 horses going into 2018. At the yearling sales last year, we looked to up the quality of our bloodstock purchases and not just buy ‘racy’ 2 year old's, but horses that will mature at 3 and beyond. Ourselves and Keith are looking forward to adding to the ranks of our Group performers, with Clem Fandango and Miss Bar Beach having paved the way.

You can see the string parading in a video here: and all the 2 year old's with shares available, have updates on their pages.

Our record of purchasing horses in training, we like to think, is second to none; horses like Burnt Sugar, Tawdeea, Junior, Penitent and of course our Group 1 winner G Force, have won top class handicaps and Group races following our bloodstock team's expertise in spotting their potential at the Horses In Training Sales. So with a proven track record of sourcing a rich source of future talent and winners at the highest possible level, we are thrilled with the horses we have purchased to race for us this year and these 'H-I-T' purchases have joined both David O'Meara and Roger Fell

David has gone from strength to strength over the last few years and is now a bona fide Group 1 winning trainer, both in the UK and on the International circuit, including of course with our own G Force.

The weather was somewhat damp, so we had to shelter under the stables whilst Mike and David talked through the string as they paraded, but this didn't dampen spirits as we heard the updates! You can see our string parading for owners in this video, as David and syndicate manager Mike give commentary on each horse:

After the success of our 900th winner (and Book 1 AND Plus 10 bonus heroine) VENTURA ROYAL last season, we have added another 2 year old with David, in the STYLE VENDOME colt (see the gallery), who is shaping well and qualifies for French Owners premiums too.

The two exciting ‘H-I-T’ prospects are in the shape of COLD STARE and SULTAN  BAYBARS. Both should be taking their owners to Grade 1 tracks during the forthcoming turf season.

Since taking out the license in his own name, Roger has shown that he is very adept at getting the most out of horses in his charge. This was demonstrated by BURNT SUGAR (shown proudly wearing his winners rug in the photo gallery!) landing the Premier Handicap at Leopardstown last season, where he picked up a cool €88,500 for his owners, who enjoyed the spectacle of Irish Champions weekend in the process!

We have looked to strengthen our team with Roger this year and we are very excited about the prospect of  ELUSIVE HEIGHTS and  KUPA RIVER, who we also look forward to running at Grade 1 tracks this summer.

This weekend we visit RICHARD FAHEY, then on the 18th we are at Seven Barrows with NICKY HENDERSON and on the 24th we go to see our largest string with RICHARD HANNON, with further dates in March (shown in the 'News' section).
