A Goodwood 1-2 from Cold Stare and Magical Wish!

Our 45th Winner of the year: COLD STARE trained by David O'Meara and ridden by Harry Bentley: The £30,000 'Brian Chattaway Celebrating 50 Years at Ladbrokes' Class 2 Handicap over 7f, at Goodwood.
The rains came all round the country this week and the going at Goodwood, was described as soft, heavy in places. Something that Cold Stare has been waiting for all season. This hadn't escaped the notice of Betfair's Tony Calvin, who tipped him for the race on Friday! Magical Wish was also lining up in the race on the back of a career best win at Doncaster two weeks ago and a 2nd place over course and distance before that.
With a favourite ridden by Oisin Murphy, you are always wary and having two horses in the race, it was a nervous watch. However, we could never have dreamed that it would turn out as it did, with a 1-2! A head separating them and the third horse, 1 1/4 lengths back. You could hear the owners cheering on both horses in the background!

Saturday winners are hard to procure and when they are live on ITV, we are always pleased with the reaction! Ed Chamberlin, called out 'friend of the show Mike Prince' after the race, as Mike has appeared now three times via Zoom with Ed and the team! Mike says "I'm delighted for Cold Stare's owners - he deserves that, after waiting patiently for his conditions. It's a 3rd win in our silks and he picked up a handy £19,407 yesterday. Cold Stare is another of our Tattersalls Horse-In-Training purchases; we're pretty selective at these sales and like to have 'a plan' when we pick one up. We did the same with Burnt Sugar, who Roger Fell trained to great success for his owners and this week we think we've found another 'golden nugget' to follow in Sugar's hoof steps, in END ZONE, a 3 year old by Dark Angel." Two career best Timeform performances from both horses: Cold Stare with a 100 and Magical Wish a 108. All our recent winners have put in career best Timeform ratings - One Hart, Fiveandtwenty, Beechwood Jude, Revich and Magical Wish, after winning at Doncaster earlier in the month. He really is having a stellar 4 year old season, going up the weights and running another corker yesterday - he's really tough and his owners adore him.
Well done to both sets of owners on two fantastic performances and thank you yet again to Goodwood for looking after our owners so well - it's a special place to have a winner. It's also always nice to be featured on the front cover of the Racing Post! This time alongside the superb record breaking Hollie Doyle.
