We Are Impressed
WINNER 87 OF 2023: HOW IMPRESSIVE, trained by Hugo Palmer and ridden by Richard Kingscote: The 'Sea Deer Handicap' at the Yarmouth Eastern Festival, over 6f.
Second last time out over 7f, he was back to 6f today in the final race on the card on the second day of the three day Yarmouth Eastern Festival.
A pretty even break from the 11 runners, with a little bumping here and there, after a few strides, he settled into his rhythm at the head of the field. As they came to the 1 pole, Richard asked him to quicken and although he edged right and was pressed, he ran on inside the final furlong to win by 3/4 of a length.
"How Impressive makes pretty much all." Watch the race replay here: https://www.attheraces.com/racecard/Yarmouth/20-September-2023/1730
Richard told us after the race: "He kept finding and did that really well. He's got plenty of boot for 6f and liked being out in front."

Timeform gave him a performance rating of a career best 83 and say: "Gave belated confirmation that he's just as effective on turf as all-weather as he went one better than last time, his rider judging things to a tee, proving a bit lairy in front but knuckling down perfectly well; led, pushed along 2f out, hung right over 1f out, joined entering final 100 yds, found extra, made all; he's spent most of his career at further but seemed suited by this drop to 6f."
Syndicate manager Tom says: "Well done to Hugo and the team at home and it was great to be there with his owners who enjoyed their celebratory champagne – congratulations everyone. Richard gave him a great ride and he showed a tough attitude there staying on the front end. As Seb Sanders said on Sky Sports Racing '"he really dug deep and that was a big performance in those conditions". We will keep rolling with him as he enjoyed that and so did we!"
