Queen of Sandown

Winner 30 of 2025: ANTHELIA, trained by Rod Millman and ridden by Lewis Edmunds. ‘The listed class Star Sports National Stakes’ over 5f at Sandown.
Stallions such as Havana Grey, Ebro River, Ubettabelieveit, as well as the Group 3 winner Elite Status and the TF 115 rated Global Applause, have used the National Stakes as a stepping stone for their phenomenal careers. The list of winners in the prestigious listed event is long and distinguished.
This year’s renewal saw a field of 7 going to post, with Anthelia drawn in stall three. It looked a very competitive and strong race on paper, and from the moment the stalls opened, it developed into just that. A very even break, with Anthelia just following the leading pack in midfield, before making a significant move on the far rail. She still showed some signs of greenness when short of room, but bursted through to the gap to then kick clear inside the final 100 yards, holding off the eventual second to win impressively by a length. Our unbeaten, quality daughter of Supremacy not only retained her perfect record but also upped our Group and Listed record to an incredible 75 Winners overall.
A massive thank you to Rod and the team for letting us be part of this incredible journey and very well done to all her owners.

Lewis Edmunds also spoke to the press afterwards: "She wasn't given much of a chance in the betting, but she couldn't have done any more coming into today and had given me a hell of a feel at Bath." Edmunds said. "She was green at Salisbury and still green today. They didn't go as quick as we thought they would, it was just a sensible gallop and although she came off it quite early she was strong at the finish."
Timeform rated her third victory with a 90, saying: "was much improved to maintain her unbeaten record up in grade, helped by a dream run up the far rail but capitalising on it decisively; mid-division, shuffled back 3f out, good headway on inner over 1f out, led final 100 yds, driven out; others will head to the Queen Mary with more potential but she's more than earned her place in the field."
With a new TF rating of 90, Anthelia becomes the highest rated syndicate owned 2 year old filly according to the Timeform listing.
