A Thriller, from Bookmark!
WINNER 80 OF 2021: BOOKMARK, trained by Michael Bell and ridden by Hayley Turner: 'The Homeserve Handicap' over 1m 2.5f at Chester.
Bought at the Tattersalls July sale for 12,000 guineas, she won last time out after being upped in trip, by a phenomenal 17 lengths at Pontefract. Slowly away then, she also made a tardy start at Chester yesterday too. Hayley kept her out the back, as the pace was a fast one, set by the leaders. She gave her a push along about 3f from home and began to make headway. Slightly hampered, she switched right in the straight and ran on well to lead inside the final furlong and was soon clear, to win "comfortably" by 1 3/4 lengths.
"Here's Bookmark, from last to first under Hayley Turner, storming through to grab the lead and clearing away for a cosy success." Watch the full race replay here: https://www.attheraces.com/racecard/Chester/10-September-2021/1450
Timeform gave her a rating of 78 for the win, saying: "Well-in under a penalty, probably didn't need to improve to follow up from Pontefract just 7 days earlier; dwelt, in rear, headway when not clear run home turn, switched right, stayed on to lead inside final 1f, won readily.”

Syndicate manager Tim says: "Well done to her owners on a back-to-back win from their filly. The plan is coming together nicely! We bought her for 12,000 guineas and we will run her once more, going for a hat-trick before she goes to the Tattersalls October Horses-in-Training sale. She has a lovely pedigree, being bred by HM The Queen and will make a nice broodmare.”
Tim goes on to say: "The good form continues for our owners and when Tom worked out the total number of winning owners with us, so far this year, it was quite a number (as you can see below). When you consider that we have an average of 16 owners per horse, it's quite a healthy figure."
