Identical Genes to 'On A Boat That Day' at just 25.000€ - Outstanding Value!
All the reasons we purchased our very exciting Roger Varian-trained 2yo ON A BOAT THAT DAY (Phoenix of Spain) a year ago still apply to the purchase of this fabulous colt for €25,000, some 85k less than his 2yo sibling - identical genes for around 20% of the cost - we think he represents, therefore, outstanding value.
Of course, we’re in the privileged position, unlike anyone else in the racing fraternity, of having Roger Varian’s insight into the progress of On A Boat That Day, which is very positive indeed, in addition to the fact that both colts’ Dubawi mare has already produced the 95-rated Spirit D’Or. We’ve every reason to believe that any aspirations we may have for this colt’s elder sibling we can anticipate for this fellow too.

This yearling colt is a really strong individual who stands over and covers plenty of ground; he’s quite imposing - he looks rather more forward than his elder brother, more ready for action, the way he’s already filled his frame. Unlikely to be an April 2027 whizzbanger though; he’s more likely one for late Spring or early Summer over 6f.
He qualifies for all the 6f sales races that MPR are so successful with, e.g. Shouldvebeenaring, Song Of The Clyde, Anthelia, Satellite Of Love, to name but a few and furthermore Alpe D’Huez (2nd in The Woodcote), who was purchased from this sale a year ago - he earned €28,000+ in this year’s Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sales Stakes alone - held at The Curragh during Irish Champions’ Weekend earlier this month.

We’re pretty certain this colt will mature with age and race distances of up to a mile as a 3yo could easily prove within his compass. If he develops into a pattern performer, in time, it wouldn’t be a wild assertion to believe this could be the case.
We’re hoping he’s particularly well bought.
