Fastest Breeze Of The Week
The Breeze
From the sale which, over the last 7 years, has produced more Royal Ascot winners than any other Breeze Up Sale, we’re delighted to have secured, for a sizeable £200,000 it’s fair to say, the horse who showed the most ability of all in the breeze, in winning ‘the 2.3f race’ in an overall time of 24.59secs - not only that, he actually won the race ‘going away’ as they say, such was his superiority over his near 180 rivals in the finishing stages of the contest, pulling clear, as his damsire FRANKEL genes kicked in. He was a touch steady to get organised in the early stages of the breeze which can only enhance his overall superiority and furthermore, towards the end of his breeze video you can see him still tanking, galloping on powerfully, long after he’s passed the final timing sensor devices, showing there’s plenty of ability locked in there, that we didn’t quite get to see.
Individual
He’s a lovely strong colt who has both strength and presence when you stand into him, in addition to possessing a turbocharged engine, of course, and his long, raking stride suggests he’ll revel when he’s asked to stretch out to the full racing distances of 5f & 6f. He could possibly stay even further, too, in keeping with some of his distaff lineage. He hails from the family of 1000 Guineas winner & Champion European filly SEYYEDATI, who was, of course a daughter of the great DUBIAN. Outside of the Gainsborough Stud ‘Height of Fashion’ family genes, you’d struggle to find a better historic lineage - It’s no wonder he clocked the best time of all.
Pedigree
Our fabulous colt is by ARDAD - himself a £170,000 graduate of the Doncaster Breeze Ups - & he’s already the sire of the recent Champion 2yo PERFECT POWER, who, also hailed from this sale for 110,000gns - ARDAD, The leading sire line for precocious quality: Ardad is the best current source of Royal Ascot Group juveniles; before him, Kodiac had the most Royal Ascot juveniles of any stallions”, crossed with potent Frankel stock - a recipe that’s clearly working, in an elite way. PERFECT POWER currently resides and plies his trade at stud at Godolphin’s famous home of champion stallions, Dalham Hall Stud, Newmarket.
The Auction
The underbidder on our superb colt was Michael O’Callaghan - the trainer of the Group 2 2yo performer CRISPY CAT (by Ardad), so it’s fair to say, we were in rather illustrious company indeed in the auction ring ie alongside fans of this colt’s proven pedigree.
Background/Recommendation
A year ago, Nick Bell purchased, from Ballybush’s Patrick Vaughan, the first winner to come from any breeze-up sale, a colt by Kodiac for 50,000gns, having previously purchased the very useful ‘Prepschool’ for £35,000 from the same vendor, after he’d not sold for €48,000. Ever since January, Patrick has been advising Nick that he as a superstar colt heading to The Doncaster Breeze Ups and that he should take note. His opinion, clearly backed up by the evidence of the clock, suggests we’re onto something a bit special here, you’d like to think.
The Plan
Our stunning colt will head straight to Newmarket, to be trained by the Derby winning, Oaks winning, Ascot Gold Cup winning, Nunthorpe winning and multiple 2yo Royal Ascot winning, master of Fitzroy House Stable, Michael Bell, where we’ll, hopefully, be prepping him for a 2yo and 3yo career akin to those of Ardad & Perfect Power themselves - there’s absolutely no reason be believe that’s not entirely possible
