Urban Soldier was at €28k purchase for us, by ace Bloodstock Agents, Peter and Ross Doyle who have bought the likes of LOSTINTRANSLATION and THE BIG GETAWAY.

A huge individual of a horse, standing at 17 hh, it’s no wonder it’s taken a couple of seasons to get him where we want. As he matures, he should hold his condition better and have a more elongated season, year on year.

Some of the strides he is seeing in the schooling ring are breath-taking. He is the proverbial chaser in the making...

Yet to see a fence, which is actually what we bought him to be, he’ll start off over hurdles this Autumn, before graduating to the BIG ones.

A careful study of his seasonal debut from 2022/2023 at Taunton, in finishing 2nd to the now 130 rated I Spy A Diva, suggests he’s particularly well handicapped off 103. Now under the tutelage of Paul Nicholls’ latest prodigy and nephew, Harry Derham. Both, as Paul & ourselves thought Urban Soldier may just benefit from being in a smaller team, where there’s more flexibility to change things around from day to day which maybe enable our horse to move to an even higher level of performance.

Anyone looking for instant action, on a very sensible budget, with an exciting, young, up and coming trainer, should look no further.

Racing Update (March): Got bogged down in the heavy last time and needs a much firmer underfoot set of conditions. Being freshened up now, for a summer campaign. Could easily be a serious contender next time out. His race entries/declarations, will show on this page.
