We are delighted and privileged to be able to offer our very first ‘store horse’ with the 11 times Champion Trainer, Paul Nicholls. We’ve had a fair bit of success with Paul with our French, horses in training, imports, notably Red Risk and Oleg, but we thought the excitement of purchasing a horse where we can all be in from the start, to include naming and nurturing him to the track, was too great a temptation to resist, any longer.
Paul is renowned and revered for his big, strapping chasers, the list of which is too endless to even begin to cite, so we thought a lovely, chasing type of store horse would be the very best place to start.
Our 3yo gelding, here, by the rising star SOLDIER OF FORTUNE, stands at a mighty 16.3hh, but you’d never guess that, given the way he moves and conducts himself, he’s so easy in the eye and so very fluent in his gaits. We think you’d struggle to find a more imposing individual than this fellow and given he hails from a family packed with Grade 1 & Grade 2 performers, you could be forgiven for beginning to dream of Cheltenham glory, as his career builds towards a Chasing crescendo in a couple of years’ time. He was purchased for us, by ace Bloodstock Agents, Peter and Ross Doyle who, only recently, purchased, for their clients, the likes of LOSTINTRANSLASTION and THE BIG GETAWAY.
We couldn’t be in better hands than the Doyle’s and Paul Nicholls. Our gelding is away being broken in, as we speak and we’ll deliver him to Paul towards the end of September, cantering and ready to go into full training. The plan would then be to educate him in the string at Ditcheat and teach him to be a racehorse in the Autumn and early Winter. The very earliest case scenario, would be that he would be ready to run in National Hunt Flat races (bumpers) in January, but it’s more likely that he’d run in one or two bumpers in the early spring, around Cheltenham Festival time.
He looks a thoroughly imposing and potentially high class prospect for his owners to enjoy over the coming seasons and he’s not hugely expensive to jump aboard, either. He’d come highly recommended. Physically and genetically, you get a lot of bang for your bucks with this impressive individual.
