Ice Cold In Alex
Ascot - The Challenge Cup
Middleham Park Racing is expanding its operation into Ireland – home to where is, without doubt, one of the strongest racing calendars in the world, with the likes of Coolmore, Juddmonte, Godolphin, Shadwell and HH Aga Khan all racing there. With that comes great rivalry and in turn, if good enough, a terrific opportunity. It is fair to say that an Irish Maiden winner at 2 or 3 years, is worth a significant amount of money. There are some wonderful racecourses and facilities in Ireland and being so accessible from the UK, it seems like the obvious next move.
Ice Cold In Alex, trained in Ireland by The Curragh based trainer Ken Condon, is a 3yo colt by Olden Times, currently officially rated 78 and on the improve. He was a June foal, so lightly raced as a 2yo but was a very impressive winner over 5f last time out in October, having previously been placed in a Gowran maiden on the turf. He has grown and strengthened up a huge amount over the winter and will be a lovely horse for this year.
Ken says he is a very genuine and progressive colt with a terrific temperament and willingness to please in both his work and on the track. He will get a mile this year so options look a plenty for him. His half-brother, Packing Genius had an official rating of 98 after winning a Class 2 at Ascot and was subsequently sold to race in Hong Kong.
We have just had some feedback from some of our owners who went to the Punchestown Festival with one of our runners, which echoes that of our owners who went to race at Leopardstown last year with Ventura Storm. They said they were "treated like Kings", so if you haven't yet experienced the amazing Irish hospitality as an owner, here's your opportunity!
