A win for Myklachi at Newcastle - David O'Meara's 100th winner of the season!

Sat 31 Aug 2019

A second career win for MYKLACHI under Danny Tudhope last evening at Newcastle, but it was by no means straight forward! The furthest trip he had tried previously was 1m 4 furlongs and this extended 2 mile trip was a new venture. He has been a bit weak as a 2 year old and needed to be brought along steadily by David, but yesterday he cruised into the final straight only to hit trouble in running. Think this is best described by The Racing Post's commentary! "In touch, bit short of room over 2f out, pushed along to chase leader when short of room again approaching final furlong, soon switched right, stayed on well to lead towards finish, shade cosily."

It was a fabulous meeting for Danny, as he rode a four-timer and Myklachi was David's 100th winner of the season, so plenty of reasons to celebrate! Congratulations team.

There was a lovely interview on Sky Sports Racing after the race with Jim Nelson, one of the owners present and we thank Jim for his very kind words about us. When he reeled off the list of the horses that he is involved in, it was a list of winner after winner after winner this year "I've got Waarif, he's a star and has now won 7 times, Southern Rock, he's won 4 times this year and I've got a new one Segarelli, who hasn't run yet, as well as Myklachi!"

Well done Jim and all Myklachi's owners.

ICE COLD IN ALEX ran yet another great race to take 4th in the 1 mile €100,000 Irish Cambridgeshire at The Curragh for Ken Condon. He finished fast too, with less than 2 lengths between the four of them and another 2 lengths to the 5th placed horse. This was a trip that hasn't been his favoured, so he did very well in that company.

He is the apple of syndicate manager Charlotte's eye and always gives his all - take his last 7 runs:1, 2, 1, 3, 2, 3, 4 under Charlotte's management. "There are a couple of Heritage Handicaps for him on Champions weekend in 2 weeks, over 7f and 6f that we have our eye on" Charlotte says. "we will target all the big prize pots with him!

Earlier on the card, Richard Fahey's VENTURA LIGHTNING put in an RPR of 101 and a Timeform rated performance of 100, from his 5th place in the very competitive Group 3 Round Tower Stakes on just his third start. Seeing our silks finish in the mix with Coolmore, Qatar Racing and HH the Aga Khan is always a thrill! He looks like he will continue to take his owners to top tracks and big races over 6 or 7 furlongs.

Charlotte now becomes syndicate manager too, for our first horse in training with JOSEPH O'BRIEN.

We are delighted to welcome Joseph to our training team, with a yearling colt, purchased at the Goffs Premier Sale this week. By ELZAAM, you can read all about him and see his share details here: Elzaam/Joseph O'Brien colt.

We have now passed £1,000,000 of prize money won this year, so thank you to all our trainers and stable staff for their hard work  - and let's also say well done to our syndicate managers for their race placements! ;)
