The last time we were recommended an unbroken store horse by Nicky Henderson, he turned out to be Might Bite! We are therefore very keen to not let history repeat itself and snapped him up as soon as the Champion trainer put him to us!
He is from a wonderful French National Hunt family, who bloodstock agent (Highflyer) Anthony Bromley knows very well and he is half brother to a seven time winner. Read about his sire SECRET SINGER here: http://www.france-sire.com/etalon-307-secret_singer.php
He’s a lovely specimen and has a real touch of quality and presence about him. As soon as Nicky showed him to us we were taken by him. He’s got a fantastic walk and swagger and he’s a precocious type, who owners shouldn't be having to wait too long for. Nicky was keen to keep him in €100,000 GOFFS LAND ROVER BUMPER at the 2019 Punchestown Festival (see above) and that’s where we will target him at with a run, and hopefully a win or two before. This race carries vast sums of prize money as well a great amount of prestige.
Season Update: Nicky has just published his 'Horses-In-Training' brochure for the 2018-2019 season. In it he says: "This is a very good individual by the French sire Secret Singer, who was a high class horse on the flat in France, and a son of Singspiel. He has already sired a number of high-class winners under both rules, including a very talented chaser we called Volnay de Thaix. This is a really smart looking individual that I hope won't take too long, but he has bags of scope and class to go with it."
We saw him at our owners' visit in October, he cantered around the Seven Barrows Wexford sand ring with the rest of our string and then after a wash down, was brought in to the yard for us to see. We have added some photos and two videos on this page from the visit, where you can see him canter past and then hear Nicky talking about him. He is a lovely big, athletic horse and Nicky is very keen on him.
The Racing Post published a Nicky Henderson Stable Tour. We have attached a screen shot of Nicky's thoughts on this gelding in the gallery.
