Winner 51 of 2025: ZIGGY’S TRITON, trained by David O’Meara and ridden by Ben Robinson. The ‘Champagne Pommery Cuvee Louise Handicap’ over 5f at Musselburgh.
A ready winner from our lightly raced, and exciting sprinter ZIGGY’S TRITON. There was a big crowd and a fantastic atmosphere for “Ladies Day” at Musselburgh, a brilliant day to have a winner.
Ziggy’s Triton pinged the stalls and travelled strongly under his rider, before the pair pressed the leader and disputed the lead 2 furlongs from home. Our son of Profitable was tough and had to dig deep to see off challenges from the eventual second and fast-finishing third-placed horse. A first win in handicap company for our 3-year-old, and his second win of the season. Timeform rated his victory with a 83, commenting: "Was quickly reverted to more positive tactics and wasted no time getting back on the up; prominent, produced to lead 2f out, tackled final 1f, driven out; there was an opportunistic element to this success, though, with several rivals misfiring."
A delighted Syndicate Manager Mike Prince said after the race: "Well done on another win! David said that he was pleased with the toughness that he showed yesterday having first of all winning his battle with the leader and then fending off a sustained challenge from Pop Star. I certainly prefer to see him ridden that way and there was plenty to like about the way he went about his business."
