WINNER 22 OF 2024: ZIGGY'S DREAM, trained by Alice Haynes and ridden by Sean Levey: The feature, 'Fred Smith's 80th Birthday Celebrations Fillies' Handicap' over 6f at Wolverhampton.
This was her first start as a 3 year-old, after a 144 day break. She looked well as we watched a video of her leave her Newmarket base earlier in the day, to head for Wolverhampton, where she has a 2 from 2 record over 6f!
Wearing a red hood to post, she was drawn in 8 of 10. Sean decided to be patient rather than rushing her forward to get a position, so they settled just in behind mid-division. Making headway, he asked her for an effort 2f out and she was chasing the leaders turning for home. Taking a route between horses over 1f out, she was ridden to the lead entering the final furlong. Running on well, she pulled away to win by 1 and a 1/2 lengths, with the favourite in 2nd.

Timeform rated it as a career best t94 performance, saying: "Had plenty of use made of her as a juvenile and returned with a career-best effort after 5 months off, showing a good attitude as she extended her unbeaten C&D record to 3; in touch, travelled well, had to wait for gap home turn, headway early in straight, led final 1f, won readily."

Syndicate manager Tim says: "Well done to her owners and Alice for her win on seasonal debut. We'll see how she comes out of the race and decide whether we go again at Kempton tomorrow. We might look to get some black type for her next."
Alice and Sean were very pleased with her: "We loved the way she went about her work, from her draw. When it all opened up she showed a great turn of foot to hit the line strong. Sean thinks she’s a filly who could keep steeping up, tries hard and loves her racing."
