Winner 79 of 2025: INVITED, trained by George Boughey and ridden by Billy Loughnane. The ‘Win £250,000 With BetMGM's Golden Goals Handicap’ over 1m at Lingfield.

 Winner stories are usually all about our winning horse, rightly so; in this instance, though, we must step aside and leave the spotlight to an outstanding riding performance. Billy Loughnane, 19 years young, not only equalled but also bypassed the record of winners in one calendar year, set by none other than Kieran Fallon in 2003—a fantastic achievement, and from everyone at MPR, a massive WELL DONE, Billy.

INVITED, bought for “cheapish” 20.000 Guineas at the October HIT only two months ago, was brought to our attention by its trainer, George Boughey. The gelding had improved all season, and his trainer believed that there would be yet more to come. After a very unlucky run last time out, where he got stuck wide, Billy disputed the lead from the off and was allowed to dictate the race.

Turning for home, he increased the pace, and his very willing partner, Invited, fought off the attacks from the eventual second-placed horse to win by a neck.

A great effort from the son of Kodiac, who also provided George Boughey with his 100th win of the season.

An all-around huge victory, one for the history books for sure.

Timeform allocated him a career best p96, saying: "Back down in grade, bounced back to form under a good ride to make it 4 wins for the year, all achieved on all-weather; dictated, pushed along entering straight, always holding on, very much had the run of the race."
