Life's A 'Breeze'!

Tue 27 Feb 2024

WINNER 13 OF 2024: SIOBHANBROGAN, trained by Hugo Palmer and ridden by Oisin Murphy: The 'BetMGM: It's Showtime Fillies' Novice Stakes' over 6f at Wolverhampton.

Purchased at the Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up Sale, this was the daughter of Starspangledbanner's third start - she was favourite to take the race.

Prominent from the off, she slotted in behind the leader on the inner, but was quite keen for a couple of furlongs. As they came to the bend, she was still travelling easily as the rest of the field came off the bridle. Switched right over 1f out, she made good headway to take the lead inside the final furlong and ran on well, winning by 2 lengths.

Timeform rated it as a career best t78 performance, saying: "Got off the mark in straightforward fashion, still green through the early stages and she's likely got more to offer; prominent, raced freely, pushed along over 1f out, led last ½f, asserted late on, well on top finish; will go on improving.”

Oisin said in his Sky Sports Racing interview: "Hollie got out and had a nice time of it upfront and in behind there were two of us on top of each other, looking for cover. Once we got to halfway, though, she got into a good rhythm. She's nicely bred and has a nice future. It's nice to be winning this time of year - it's competitive!”

Syndicate manager Tom says: "Congratulations to her owners. I was at the track and thought she did that without any fuss. Just a little free going early on, but in the second half of the race, she was flawless, with Oisin asking her for an effort at just the right time. As we head into the turf season, Hugo and I will sit down and make a plan for her.”

WINNER 14 OF 2024: ZIGGY'S MISSILE, trained by Robert Cowell and ridden by Luke Morris: The 'Boost Your Acca At BetMGM Handicap' over 5f at Wolverhampton.

Two runners in this race and both. also purchased at the 2023 Breeze Up Sales.

All the pre race talk was for the favourite Lieutenant Rascal though and he took them along in the early stages, with Ziggy's Missile in behind. Doctor Vuby was very keen and pushed wide in the first half of the race. All it took was a shake of the reins from Luke, for Ziggy to quicken around the home bend. He ran on powerfully in the straight to lead and kept on well inside the final furlong, winning by a length. Doctor Vuby stayed on nicely to take 2nd, with the favourite back in third.

Timeform rated it as a t78 performance, saying: "Showed improved form to get off the mark making nursery/all-weather debut after 5 months off; prominent, pushed along 2f out, led over 1f out, kept on, well on top finish; may do better still.”

Luke said in his Sky Sports Racing interview: "I really liked him when I rode him first time out at Bath - in a race that has worked out quite well. This race went exactly as I had hoped it would go, giving the leader a little bit of rope early. He showed a good attitude and I think he can step forward physically from the run and he looks a nice progressive sprinter.”

Syndicate manager Tim says: "When I spoke to Robert he said that it was fantastic to see Ziggy's Missile win so emphatically. He will likely end up a 5-furlong horse as the season progresses but there is no reason to think he couldn't get an extra furlong on the all-weather especially round a bend in the meantime. He is a big, strong horse who seems very honest and game and we should have a lot of fun with him as the season progresses. Well done to his owners - great to see so many happy faces in the photos!”
