He's a Belter
Fri 13 Feb 2026
Winner 26 of 2026: LARGY BELTER, trained by Dan Skelton and ridden by Tristan Durrell. The ‘Kube - Leicester's Premier Events Venue Novices' Limited Handicap Chase (GBB Race)’ over 2m at Leicester.
A huge number of his owners were rewarded to witness the talented Largy Belter delivering a brilliant round of jumping on his first attempt in handicap company over 2 miles. Our powerful and at times exuberant son of Youmzain disputed the lead in the early stages of the race but settled beautifully in the hands of Tristan Durrell at the head of affairs in the 4-runner field.
Largy Belter was in a fantastic rhythm, and his jumping looked effortless throughout, making close to every yard and settling the result with a huge leap over the last, well clear of the second-placed horse.
There were beautiful scenes after the race, when his enthusiastic owners greeted our gelding with a huge round of applause in the winner's enclosure.

Timeform rated his victory with a 124: "Jumped much better than previously having been allowed his head this time and took a step forward to get off the mark; took keen hold, led second, joined but still yet to be asked for effort when left clear 3 out."
"A day at the races with Largy Belter:"
Tom Palin on the success of Largy Belter: "Very well done to his patient and understanding owners. A brilliant performance from our fella, and we hope there is plenty more to come. An effortless round of jumping, and it was nice to see him settle so well throughout his race."
