Gold Arch glitters to record his fourth win at Wolves

Mon 22 Jun 2020

GOLD ARCH (William Knight) - The Standeford Handicap over 1m 6f at Wolverhampton, ridden by Adam Kirby

Up in trip from 1m 4f, he was 2nd in the betting behind a hot favourite who bolted up last time out. The field went off hard and it was good judgement by Adam Kirby to take the decision to sit out the back after his slow start, as the fractions for the opening 1/2 mile were hot. He began to make slow progress through the field, without having to move too much in the saddle and at the 2 furlong pole, he began to ask him to quicken. He made rapid headway to soon go on to lead, pulling clear over 1f out. The Racing Post used the term "easily" as he pulled over 7 lengths away!

It's been a great start for William Knight since his move to Rathmoy Stables in Newmarket. Well done to the team.

Syndicate manager Tom Palin says "That was mightily impressive! The handicapper will have his say, so we'll take a look at the programme book and plan where he might go next. I've identified some options and passed these on to his owners and will discuss them with William. Well done everyone on his win."

After a good Saturday, Sunday continued our consistent form. From our four runners we had the win from Gold Arch, a 2nd place from Marie's Gem, who appreciated the step up to 1m 2f, 3rd from Ventura Mutiny on his second start and a nice 4th on debut from Beechwood Emily, despite showing plenty of greenness.

That means that in the last four days, from our 25 runners, 18 have been in the winners enclosure - not bad at all! With 24 winners on the board for the year, we look forward this week to having runners in Scotland and of course potentially buying some new 2 year old's at the 'Breeze up' sales.
