Clarendon Brings The House Down

Sat 31 Jul 2021

WINNER 58 OF 2021: CLARENDON HOUSE, trained by Robert Cowell and ridden by Callum Rodriguez: The feature 'Bet at racingtv.com Handicap' over 5f at Musselburgh.

Carrying top weight with a 6lb penalty from his win at Bath 9 days ago, he was this time partnered by Callum Rodriguez, who has already ridden 6 winners for us this year!

Going to the start early, which is normal for him, he had to wait for a horse to be removed from the stalls after getting upset, but he kept his cool. Rearing slightly as the gates opened, he was on the back foot, but in customary fashion he made up the ground to track the leader against the rail. Getting slightly hampered early on and running keenly, Callum switched him right to come around the field. A quick change of legs and he kept on well, to lead inside the final furlong, with the Racing Post remarking that he was "always doing enough" - winning by a neck.

"He's a fast improving sprinter, that's 4 from 6 now." Watch the full race replay here: https://www.racingtv.com/videos/watch/horse_racing_replays/346879-bet-at-racingtv-com-handicap-3

Yet again, he was the meeting 'Star performer' from The Racing Post:"Clarendon House (8.22) added a fourth win to his short career in the feature sprint."

Timeform awarded him a post race rating of 106+ and reported: "Only made his debut at the start of June but this was already his fourth win, not needing to do any more than at Bath under a penalty (had also gone up 3 lb for his previous Newmarket win) but looking a horse on his way to top-end handicaps sooner rather than later; in touch, switched over 1f out, led inside final 1f, always holding on (far from all out)."

Syndicate manager Tim says: "Great work by Robert Cowell for us this week - that's 2 runners and 2 winners, after Dynamic Force made a winning debut on Monday. Clarendon House is giving plenty of fun for his owners, now winning 4/6 since his debut on June 1st. He did it well, giving 23lbs to the 2nd horse and having every reason to get beaten; losing ground at the start, pulling and having to come wide around the field. We are so very pleased with his progression, as he has come a long way. He'll have a little rest up and and here's to more champagne moments for his owners."
