A Third Win for Lelantos
WINNER 85 OF 2022: LELANTOS, trained by Nicky Henderson OBE and ridden by Nathan Brennan (-6): 'The R W Hough & Sons Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle' over 2m 7f at Bangor-On-Dee.
Third, last time out over course and distance, he was favourite to take todays race. At the start, he must have seen the market boards, as he set off with purpose, in front. Jumping with ears pricked, he jumped the last well and kept on in the run-in, to win by 1 and a 1/2 lengths, making all the running.
"Lelantos galloping on resolutely to the judge, making all." Watch the full race replay here: https://www.attheraces.com/racecard/Bangor-On-Dee/29-July-2022/1400
Timeform rated it as career best 105, saying: "Resumed winning ways back in headgear after 9 weeks off and, whilst he enjoyed the run of things, the fact he's won 3 of his last 4 starts now suggests there may be better still to come; dictated, untidy 3 out, headed briefly between last 2, rallied well to assert run-in.”
Nathan said in his Sky Sports Racing interview: "He was very good. I was able to get a breather into him and knew he would keep finding at the end. He loved it - with ears pricked and is a good genuine, tough horse.”

Syndicate manager Tom says: "Well done to his owners and to Nathan for a good ride. Lovely to see Mr Henderson there to pick up the race prize with the owners too. Lelantos makes some nice shapes over the hurdles, (which can be seen in the image gallery above) and I think he can continue to progress this year.
It's the time now when our National Hunt horses who have had summer breaks are beginning the journey back to fitness now after being at grass. We are excited for the season ahead, as we have bought some very nice types for the 2022/23 season - you can see them here: NATIONAL HUNT AVAILABLE SHARES.
I did an interview with The Irish Field this week, where I mention our 2022 dual Grade 1 winning mare MARIE'S ROCK. You can read that here: https://www.theirishfield.ie/the-big-interview-tom-palin-middleham-park-racing-712937"
