Our stunning son of Calyx has really done well since his 2025 campaign. We gelded him and gave him plenty of time to mature, mentally and physically.

 He looked a picture in the prelims, but with the ground probably just on the quick side for our fella, so was the 7f, but he dug deep under a strong Conor Beasley drive, and came from last to first, winning readily.

Timeform rated his maiden victory with a 73: "Showed improved form to get off the mark on handicap debut after 7 months off, well suited by the step up in trip and promising to stay further still; dwelt, raced off the pace, pushed along halfway, headway from 2f out, ridden approaching final 1f, stayed on to lead final 100 yds; open to further progress."

Winner 60 of 2026: ALPE D’HUEZ, trained by Archie Watson and ridden by Hollie Doyle. The ‘Follow @attheraces On X Restricted Novice Stakes’ over 6f.

 Alpe d’Huez came into this race in fantastic form, and Archie made no bones about it that he liked our fine son of Kodi Bear, who has been incredibly straightforward at home.

Despite his outside draw, Hollie disputed the lead within a matter of strides and controlled the race from the front. None of the opponents really got into the race, with Alpe D’Huez extending nicely in the home straight, putting the race to bed inside the final furlong and going clear to win by 3 lengths.

Timeform rated his debut performance with a p79+: "(€65,000F, €58,000Y: by Kodi Bear: third foal: half-brother to useful 13f winner Vorfreude (by Bated Breath): dam lightly raced out of useful 2-y-o 6f winner (stayed 1m) Nijoom Dubai) justified support, another clued-up newcomer from a stable now on 4 first-time-out 2-y-o winners for the year; soon led, kicked on 2f out, in command final 1f, driven out; open to improvement."
