100 Not Out
WINNER 100 OF 2022: JEN'S BOY, trained by Nicky Henderson and ridden by Nico de Boinville: 'The Newton Abbot Racecourse On Facebook Handicap Hurdle' over 3m 2.5f at Newton Abbot.
Always prominent, in behind the long time leader, coming around the home bend Nico asked him to made a strong challenge. Moving upsides before 2 out, the favourite came looming on the outer and the two of them fought to the line after the last. He was on the inner and was repeatedly short of room, was bumped in the run-in, but kept on. They hit the line upsides, with the favourite just getting the call, but there was no doubt there had been interference.
Mick Fitzgerald, the on course Sky Sports Racing reporter debated the finish and then we heard that there would be a stewards enquiry. The longer these take, you know it could be a change to the result and about 30 minutes later it was confirmed - we had been placed first. Our 100th winner of 2022!
We thank Mick, also for his kind words ahead of the race, when he said: "Middleham Park are a fantastic syndicate. They've got horses up and down the country in flat yards and jumps yards. A really enthusiastic, well run syndicate."

"Following a stewards' inquiry, Presenting Yeats, who passed the post 1st, was disqualified and placed 2nd - caused interference. Jen's Boy was awarded the race."
Timeform rated it as a 110, saying: "Back up in trip, after 9 weeks off, resumed winning ways thanks to the intervention of the stewards; chased leader, upsides early in straight, rallying when bumped run-in, just failed but awarded race.”

Syndicate manager Tom says: "Congratulations to the owners of Jen's Boy. When we saw the head on being replayed, we thought that he had a good chance of being awarded the race. He saw that trip out well and it was a great ride from Nico.
I am delighted that he is our 100th winner of this calendar year. An enormous thank you goes to our trainers, their teams and all our owners for their continued support. It's been a wonderful year so far."
