Purchased at the Goffs Premier Yearling Sale, this gorgeous filly is by the redoubtable sire of sires, SHOWCASING.
For us to be able to secure this fabulous filly, by one of the most exciting sires of his generation, SHOWCASING, means we are tapping into the very best genes around: The likes of ADVERTISE (Gr.1), QUIET REFLECTION (Gr.1), MOHAATHER (Gr.1), ALKUMAIT (Gr.2), BE BEE (Gr.2), BODHICITTA (Gr.2), TASLEET (Gr.2), TOOCOOLFORSCHOOL (Gr.2), PLAY THAT SONG (Gr.2), PRIZE EXHIBIT (Gr.2), PROJECTED (Gr.2), SHOWBOY (Gr.2), SOLDIER'S CALL (Gr.2), TROPBEAU (Gr.2), XPRESSION (Gr.2) and many many more!
He excels in producing, speedy, precocious but above all, very very talented individuals, many of whom excel as 2yo’s; he sired our very own listed 2yo winner and Woodcote Stakes ‘winner’ DE BRUYNE HORSE, furthermore he sired the 2020 Brocklesby winner too; so sharp and early horses are most definitely him. He’s just a thoroughly talented sire whose nomination has risen from an initial £5000 to its current £55,000, which is quite an extraordinary rise through the ranks.
Our filly has a real 2yo’s look about her, the sort of filly that could prove to be a Royal Ascot sort for 2021, especially given the mare has already produced the 107 rated horse in the shape of IL PRIMO SOLE.
In a typical year, a Timeform, Official or Racing Post rating of 107 is more than enough to win the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot, so we’re really hoping we’re not simply tapping into a pipe dream, but more a potentially realistic and possible future target. You certainly couldn’t rule the possibly out, on genes and appearances alone.
She passed the vet and stringent inspections with flying colours - something that is important for us with every yearling we have purchased. Obviously, there’s a lot of water to flow under the bridge, but we couldn’t be more delighted to have her on our Mark Johnston 2yo roster for 2021. She does look very exciting indeed.

Pedigree Update: "The colt's victory on Saturday took Showcasing's stud record to 91 stakes performers, a list that now includes 22 Group winners." Showcasing's son Alkumait wins the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury: https://www.racingpost.com/bloodstock/bloodstock-latest/shades-of-mohaather-as-showcasings-son-alkumait-slams-mill-reef-rivals/451250.
Training Update (14th March): Charlie reports that our Showcasing filly had her first gallop yesterday. She galloped over 3 furlongs with an El Kabeir Filly who was also having her first gallop and she went well. She pulled 2 lengths clear of her work companion and so it was a pleasing piece of work. She'll resume her cantering routine on Monday and then she'll have another gallop in around 2 weeks' time. She moves with good fluidity and it is very much so far so good with her and she looks to have a nice attitude, which is a vital at this stage!
Here's a video of her working upsides. The aim of these pieces are to educate the horses to canter alongside other horses to give them experience of running with horses around them:
In the news: BEN CURTIS will be riding more for Mark this year, which is super news! Read the story here: https://www.racingpost.com/news/race-reports/its-exciting-curtis-strikes-again-and-relishes-link-with-mark-johnston/467571
