Purchased at the Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up Sale. The sale where last year, we purchased our Group 1 winner The Platinum Queen.
Tattersalls reported: 'Lot 267: Bidding by Middleham Park Racing is successful for this colt by Profitable at 78,000gns. He was sold by Aguiar Bloodstock having been bought at the Tattersalls Ireland September Sale for €40,000. He is out of the US Listed winner Cold Cold Woman, the dam of six winners, including the Saudi Arabian winner Port Lions, who won at the 2020 Saudi Cup meeting for Fawzi Nass when beating Deirdre.'
Robson Aguiar, of Aguiar Bloodstock has seen us right, all Breeze Ups sales ‘season, tipping us the wink on our 2-year-old winners Got To Love A Grey (Listed Marygate) & Ziggy’s Dream (Lily Agnes Conditions), for example, so we’ve adopted the motto, ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ here!
Following this colt’s final piece of work in Ireland, Robson phoned us and recommended we buy this colt by PROFITABLE. His asking price was £75,000, which we thought was very fair. However, given the proximity to the actual Guineas Sale, we decided just to hang fire, see the horse in the flesh, watch him breeze, study his times and wait to pounce, if necessary.
See his walk, here:
Well, we were thrilled on all counts, Robson has called it right, yet again. His times were precisely what we’d look for and he finished 12th fastest overall, including clocking the 2nd fastest gallop out of all 169 breezers on the day. He was only just getting going into his full stride at the end, as he met the rising ground of Newmarket’s Rowley Mile breeze up track.
Watch his breeze, here:
He’s the sort of horse, on pedigree, as an individual and based on breeze, who should make significant steps forward as he’s upped in trip.
He is in training with George Boughey, who seems to excel with his breezers e.g., Classic winning Cachet, Classic placed Mystery Angel & Oscula to name but three. We’ve had to stretch to 78,000gns, a little more than we could have bought him for before the sale, but we’ve seen so much more of him and learned plenty about him in that week, so we’re hoping it’s a few extra pennies, well spent.
A gorgeous individual with a great page and a great breeze.
Following a fabulous performance in his breeze, we’ve given him plenty of time to mature, given he’s a lovely, good sized colt.
Racing Update: Timeform rated 71. His race entries/declarations, will show on this page.

Sept 14th (far side): George worked him with a 100 rated Listed race winner, who was also placed in a Group 3 last time out. He wouldn't normally gallop an unraced horse with that sort of companion but he didn't have another 2yo who was ready to work over 5f during this week and he wanted to keep the Profitable Colt's work regime going
