We’d been looking to buy a sharp and racy 2yo for 2023 for up-and-coming northern trainer Adrian Nicholls to train, and we thought that this sale was the perfect venue.
We’ve had a lot of success at this sale, paying £28,000 for the Norfolk Stakes runner up Ventura Rebel and our 2022 Group 3 and Super Sprint winner Eddie’s Boy, for instance. His hammer price was 21,000gns.
Watch him walk, here:
By the Whitsbury Manor Stud stallion, DUE DILIGENCE., we loved him at the sale. Underbidders included Tom Clover and Grant Tuer, two shrewd judges, so we were clearly in good company in the auction ring and let’s hope our horse is among very good company on the track. Fingers crossed.
Racing update: Progressive youngster who threatens to stay really well. He already stays 10f and he’s only a 2yo. We’ve put him away for the Winter and he’ll come back stronger for it in 2024. Should stay middle distances and even if he were to only improve a few pounds, he could sneak into Saturday races with big pots. Middle distance horses sell well abroad or for the jumps, so we should always have some kind of asset on our hands. Progressive youngster.
