We’ve been looking to buy a sharp and racy 2yo for 2023 for up-and-coming northern trainer Adrian Nicholls to train, and we thought that this sale was the perfect venue.
We’ve had a lot of success at this sale, paying £28,000 for the Norfolk Stakes runner up Ventura Rebel and this year's Group 3 and Super Sprint winner Eddie’s Boy, for instance.
What particularly fits with this horse and this sale are the £100,000 and £150,000 ‘Sales races’, held at Newmarket, that graduates of this sale qualify for next summer and with a 21,000gns spend, this compact, strong, yet good moving colt could be perfect of the Weatherbys Super Sprint that Eddie’s Boy won at Newbury too.
He looks like he ought to be able to debut at Thirsk, Redcar or Beverley sometime in April before possibly heading off to places like York, potentially.
Watch him walk, here:
By the Whitsbury Manor Stud stallion, DUE DILIGENCE., we loved him at the sale. Underbidders included Tom Clover and Grant Tuer, two very shrewd judges and two very good trainers of 2yo’s. We were clearly in good company in the auction ring and let’s hope our horse is among very good company on the track. Fingers crossed.
