An Angel's Dream
Probably the nicest yearling filly we’ve bought in years, for Richard Hannon to train, is how we would like to pigeon hole this stunning daughter of DREAM AHEAD.
She has both a physique and pedigree to die for, being out of a 113 rated, Group 1 performer, by a fabulous sire in Dream Ahead. As the yearling sales’ season comes to an end, this filly is THE MOST EXPENSIVE yearling filly by her sire to be sold through the ring, across the entire year, adding some real substance to the adage that she’s the best filly we’ve sent to Richard’s Herridge base since our Prix Du Calvados winner, Great Page.
She is 'French Owner Premiums' qualified. Read about this lucrative extra prize money scheme here: https://www.frbc.fr/owners-premiums/. In 2021 this premium rises to 70% for 2 year old's, on top of the race prize money! Read about that here: https://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/prize-money-boost-for-french-2yo-races-in-2021/
She was consigned by Haras du Lieu des Champs, who we also purchased our super Listed winner and Queen Mary placed filly CLEM FANDANGO from (now a broodmare, at Yeomanstown Stud): https://en.lieudeschamps.com/post/clem-fandango.
Here she is being adored at the sale!
This filly, just oozes class, with a walk to die for and she was Mandore International’s, Nicolas De Watrigant’s nap of day 1 of the Arqana October Sale (Day 1 is the Premier day of the 4-day sale). Nicolas seems to possess a Midas touch when purchasing for us, for Richard Hannon, most notably, the Group performers BOITRON (€45,000) and TIGRE DU TERRE (€55,000). At €75,000 she could look exceptional value in around a year’s time if she turns out to be anywhere near as good as either of those.
See her walk video below and a second video in the gallery.
This filly is by a proven Group 1 producing stallion; Breeders Cup Turf Sprint winner Glass Slippers, Dream Of Dreams, Al Wukair, and of course, our own DONJUAN TRIUMPHANT to name but a few top flight performers that Dream Ahead has produced to date. Read about her sire here: http://www.harasdegrandcamp.com/etalons/indexdreamahead.html.
Furthermore, this filly is out of a Group 1 mare, so who’s to say she can’t emulate her parents? Her mare is by the famous FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND no less, whose progeny Richard has excelled with in the past, most notably THREAT, LARCHMENT LAD and MUMS TIPPLE.
She could just be destined for the top, over distances from 6f to a mile. You certainly couldn’t rule it out, if her looks and genes are anything to go by!
Dream Of Dreams, by Dream Ahead, wins the Gr. 1 Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot:
She is a filly that oozes quality; displaying a fabulous stride on her that covers a huge amount of ground. Richard describes her as “a big filly who will come into her own in the second half of the season.”
She’s out of a Group 1 performer who stayed further than a mile and by a Group 1 winner, out of a black type mare who was placed at Group 1 level herself. The sky could be the limit and she should thrive through to her 3yo season, as her dam stayed 1m 2f and got better with age.
Trainer Update (25th August): "She will come into her own as a 3-year-old, as she is a big filly and that debut yesterday would have done her the world of good, as she was very green. Left at the start, she made nice headway and Liam looked after her." Timeform say "Open to improvement" from her debut. Her race entries/declarations will show on this page.
Video update from Richard (28th July):
You can really see her long stride and straight limbs as she climbs the hill with her ears pricked in Richard's video of her, shown below. (See all videos of her in the gallery.)
