Why join a Middleham Park Racing syndicate for 2019?
As we've reached the close of the traditional yearling sales season, our portfolio of juveniles to race for our owners next year has taken shape nicely. They will be trained by Marco Botti, Michael Bell, Ken Condon, Keith Dalgleish, Tom Dascombe, Richard Fahey, Richard Hannon, Ben Haslam, Mark Johnston, David Lanigan, Sir Mark Prescott and Kevin Ryan. We also warmly welcome Ed Walker back to our trainer roster.
This year, our current string of 2, 3 year old's and older horses, have been showing our newest recruits what is to be expected by horses who race in our colours and producing impressive results on the track, whilst racing at outstanding levels.
We have seen 2 year old's MARIE'S DIAMOND (who we bought for €35,000 and is trained by Mark Johnston) win the Group 3 Anglesey Stakes, place 2nd in two Group 2 races and was 4th in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes. On a career high mark of 108, he has been given an entry in the Irish 2,000 Guineas and has some other very lucrative targets in his diary. BOITRON (bought for €45,000 and trained by Richard Hannon) won the Listed Denford Stakes and placed 4th in the Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère on Arc day. He too has been given an entry in the Irish 2,000 Guineas as Richard says he is a colt to get very excited about as a 3 year old. NINETYTHREETWENTY (bought for £34,000 and trained by Richard Fahey) won a Conditions race and was a super 6th in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot. We then received a hefty six figure offer for him, which we put to his syndicate; they then voted to sell him to race in Hong Kong shortly after. We have won 26 races with our 2 year old's so far this year, so our bloodstock team's buying strategy this time last year has worked well and we have used the same approach at this seasons yearling sales.
Our 3 year old's have been headlined by RAYMOND TUSK (Richard Hannon), winner of the Listed Glasgow Stakes, 2nd in the Group 3 Geoffrey Freer Stakes and now winner in Milan of the Group 2 Gran Premio del Jockey Club (a race we won with Ventura Storm when it was a Group 1 in 2016). TIGRE DU TERRE (Richard Hannon), won his third race, the Class 2 Coral Challenge at Sandown in flashy style. His owners then received a magnificent offer for him which they could not turn down and he was sold to race in Hong Kong. Another 3 year old who provided his syndicate with a big pay day was DARK ACCLAIM (Marco Botti), who his owners decided to send to the Goffs London Sale after a good 3rd to Gronkowski in a Listed race. He was sold for £305,000, which is another great return considering we bought him for £45,000. Then there's MISS BAR BEACH (Keith Dalgleish), who we bought for just €9,000, she has won two races, earned three pieces of black type to enhance her value and has won over £28,000 in prize money. Let's not forget too that TIMOSHENKO (Sir Mark Prescott), has won all five of his races this year, including the Class 2 Archerfield Cup and broke a course record at Lingfield!
Then there are the older horses, who we have purchased from 'horses-in-training' sales and who have also had a very lucrative season: The Roger Fell trained BURNT SUGAR (bought for £70,000) has won two big Saturday Class 2 handicaps and over £275k in prize money (£170,000 of that this year alone!) WAARIF (bought for £23,000 with an 82 rating) has won 3 races this year, including the historic Class 2 Carlisle Bell in course record time , £83,000 in prize money and is now rated 100 from the David O'Meara yard.
Our owners have been racing around the country on big Saturday race-days and at Festivals too! We had 3 winners at the Doncaster Lincoln meeting (where we have our annual 'launch of the season' owners box), winners on Craven day at Newmarket, Greenham day at Newbury, the Chester May Festival, Eclipse day at Sandown, July Cup day at Newmarket, Irish Oaks day at The Curragh, St Leger day at Doncaster and two winners at the Ayr Western meeting. We have had runners on Irish Guineas day, at the Punchestown Festival, the Dante and Ebor meetings at York, Lockinge day at Newbury, Oaks day at Epsom, three runners at Royal Ascot, Northumberland Plate day at Newcastle, Irish Derby day at The Curragh, Champions weekend at Leopardstown, and Cambridgeshire day at Newmarket. We have also had two runners at Longchamp on Arc day and had a fantastic time! Two syndicates have just had a fabulous weekend in Milan as we contended two Group 2 races-winning the most prestigious race in Italy for the second time and with it, £103,000 in prize money. Then there's the racing experience of a lifetime for the owners of Marie's Diamond, who had a ball at The Breeders' Cup!
Big race days, 87 winners so far this year, over £1.35m of prize money won and bloodstock sales this year alone of over £1.8m. You could say that we have provided our owners with every possible positive aspect of being a racehorse owner, and all the horses listed above had 2.5% shares available to buy of between £600 and £2,500. Not many owners in their own right have Group 1 performers, so there's not much else we can say to convince you that joining Middleham Park Racing is a great idea!
