WINNER 108 OF 2023: TYGER BAY, trained by Conrad Allen and ridden by William Carver (-3): The 'BetUK. It's Where The UK Bets Handicap' over 6f at Wolverhampton.
He has been running good races this year, placing in the top 3 six times. This was just his second start at Wolves, on what was a grim evening weather wise!
At the break, a few decided to make a run for it and pressed on. William kept him out of the speed contest and they sat towards the rear. With plenty still to do over 2f out, he switched right and from the rear made excellent headway inside the final furlong, weaving through the field and running on strongly to win going away, by 1 and a 1/4 lengths.

Timeform rated it as a t84 performance, saying: "Confirmed promise of last run, briefly threatening to meet some trouble but the strong pace meant it all opened up ideally for him in the end; held up, travelled well, headway when short of room briefly 1f out, switched inside final 1f, stayed on to lead well inside final 1f, well on top finish, helped by being held up in a strongly-run race.”

William told us after the race:
Conrad was in attendance and said in his Sky Sports Racing interview with Jason Weaver: "He needs a pace to run at and this is his time of year. He is really well and hopefully we can go again with him.”
Syndicate manager Tim says: "Well done to his owners and indeed to William, who gave him a great ride. They went off very fast and he sat in rear waiting to pounce, with Tyger showing a fabulous attitude to weave through the field like that.”
