Militia wins at Ayr

A third career win for the son of Equiano and on the big stage at the Ayr Gold Cup Festival too! He recorded the best time of the day in the 5 furlong sprint under Paul Hanagan.

Always prominent, he raced nicely towards the far side, and when Paul began to push him along over 1f out, he responded well to be ridden out and win by just over a length. His owners were delighted and celebrated with plenty of champagne in the Owners Club afterwards, as you can see in the gallery. His trainer Richard Fahey celebrated a back to back double on the card with them. Well done - everyone loves a winner!

He is our 68th winner of the year and the fifth 2019 Festival winner, after COPPER KNIGHT at York, RIGHT ACTION at Doncaster, TIMOSHENKO at Goodwood and WEDDING DATE, also at York.
