Another Feature Race Winner!

Sun 03 Sep 2023

WINNER 82 OF 2023: LEXINGTON KNIGHT, trained by Richard Hannon and ridden by Connor Beasley : The feature 'Romeo & Juliet Handicap' over 1m 4f at Wolves.

With a 2nd place from his last run over 1m 2f, he came here under a top weight of 10 stone 4, in the feature race of the evening.

Rousted at the start, he was to the fore and then moved across to the front, to lead. Steadied, he was passed at halfway, but settled into third and was still prominent. Connor asked him for an effort 3f out and as they came into the home straight, there was a dual for the top 2 places and he stayed on well to lead in the final strides, winning by a head.

"Lexington Knight; very game on the nearside, gets there!" Watch the full race replay here: https://www.attheraces.com/racecard/Wolverhampton/02-September-2023/2030

Timeform rated it as a t91 performance,with their comments to follow.

Connor was interviewed by Simon Mapletoft after the race and said:"He was a bit behind the bridle for most of the race, but he kept digging deep at the end and the further we went the better he went and his head was in the right place at the line, so very good! He gives his owners plenty of good days and he has plenty of ability.”

Syndicate manager Tim says: "I must congratulate Connor on a super ride there - he got him spot on and thank you to the Hannon team, who had a great day with 4 winners, including the Group 3 feature at Sandown. Well done to his owners on his sixth career win - and the 3rd of 2023 - so it's pats for the horse and pats on the back, all round!"
