OUR NEXT BRAVE EMPEROR?

Two years ago, Whitsbury Manor launched the first 2yo runners of the stallion Havana Grey - his rise to grandeur has been mesmeric, ever since. Likewise, Whitsbury Manor had prequelled his feat, with the astonishingly successful SHOWCASING a small period before. Whitsbury’s latest stallion offering, is the wildly exciting SERGEI PROKOFIEV - son of the great Scat Daddy, as his first progeny prepare to hit the track in the coming months. There’s often exceptional value to be had with a first season sire in the sales ring and it looks as if this colt was a particularly shrewd purchase by Rodrigo Goncalves, the business partner of Robson Aguiar, from Tattersalls Book 2 in October.

The provenance of this horse, from both Robson & Rodrigo is that he reminds them, especially well, of DUAL GROUP 2 WINNER, BRAVE EMPEROR, who they sold to us, privately, 2 years ago - and the rest, in his regard, as they say, is history!

Their expert opinion of this colt is as stated, and, just as with Brave Emperor, when he first came across from Ireland, they touted him and being able to win races over 5f but who would improve significantly when heading for 6f-1m. Their assessment was spot on, of course. Brave Emperor is now a Group 2 winner and dual Group 3 winner over his most effective racing distance of 8f. Robson’s advice is that we should take it steady with him in March and April, given he’s a bit of a giant of a horse, as was Brave Emperor, and bring him along with 6f+ races in mind from May onwards, so that’s what we’ll do - i.e. bide are time a little and give him every chance to mature still further for the next few weeks.

Compare and Contrast

We’ve included - 2 ‘walking’ videos of him - the first was taken at the Book 2 yearling sale where he was purchased in October:

The second is of him right now, as we speak:

Take a look at how he's strengthened up immensely in that time! Clearly, he’s always possessed a sizeable frame, and he’s filling it out sensationally well, thus far. He’s on a tremendous upward trajectory, physically, and long may that continue between now and Maytime.

This private purchase doesn’t come cheap; however, he’s done nothing but thrive and Robson and Rodrigo, who both ride him, are happy to pigeonhole him, firmly, in the Brave Emperor category - now, that’s some recommendation, rest assured.

Obviously, there’s plenty of water to flow under the bridge between now and the winners’ enclosure, however, with this fellow, we’re in great shape, literally. An upward trajectory to Group races would come as little surprise.

Training Update (March 14th): He will arrive with Archie's yard shortly, from Robson's - the team are very excited to have him. We look forward to seeing him with his new owners at a stable visit once he has settled in. His race entries/declarations, will show on this page.
