STABLE VISIT-Saturday 6th April: If you would like to join us to see Watheer, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to book your place.
Purchased at the Goffs August Sale, Watheer joins ROGER FELL from the stable of Marcus Tregoning.
We've had plenty of success in purchasing high class performers from Arab Sheiks, notably our Group 1 winner G Force and from Hamdan Al Maktoum specifically, the Old Newton Cup winner Tawdeea and Carlisle Bell winner Waarif. We feel we've unearthed another, potential high class performer here in Watheer.
Highly regarded as a 2yo by Marcus Tregoning he's had a wind issue dealt with and he's ready to go again. From a mark of around 80, there's a decent chance we can build on that rating and under Roger's fabulous tuition, he could easily become upwardly mobile to a rating of 100+. He looks a lightly raced, potential improver to us, rather like the three, aforementioned performers, as well of course as the superb success Roger has had with Burnt Sugar for us! He rose from an OR of 91 to 105 in Roger's hands.
Watheer could easily make up into a Saturday and festival performer throughout the year; he's not an expensive purchase, however the three horses we've listed cost 10,500gns, 23,000gns and 25,000gns respectively, so Watheer could very much be keeping good company, in more ways than one.
Part of the art of buying 'Horses In Training' is that you’re looking to be able to improve them, so it’s almost the worst they look the better when you are trying to buy them! Roger has assessed him and is going to turn him out into a paddock to put some weight on and treat him like he would as if he had bought him at the October Horses In Training sale.
Trainer Update (18th Feb): Roger reports that Watheer is well at home and has enjoyed a nice break, looking a different horse now! He’s further ahead than most of Roger’s string that have been on a break and he’s now fast cantering at home. Roger thinks that he’ll be ready to make his debut for us in the middle of March.
