Showcasing ex Hot Secret filly
Newmarket - THE £150,000 TATTERSALLS OCTOBER AUCTION STAKES
The MPR and Richard Fahey 2-year-old success story!
We have a superb record with our juveniles trained by Richard. His is our only trainer who has sent 2-year old’s that we have purchased as yearlings, to race at Royal Ascot – every year since 2017! Simmy’s Copshop, Ninetythreetwenty and Ventura Rebel are these trailblazers and we think our new purchases are a step up again in quality.
The owners of Ninetythreetwenty and Ventura Rebel accepted multiple six figure offers for both these 2-year olds and consequently earned a fantastic profit, so we do know how to buy a talented yearling for Mr Fahey to train. Listed and Group winning fillies Sandiva and Lily's Angel were also superstars for us trained at Musley Bank.
Our 2019 Ripon, Hornblower Conditions race winner, Ventura Lightning (OR 100), bought in 2019 as a breeze-up colt, is one to look forward to back on the turf this season too, so who will be this year’s Musley Bank Royal Ascot contenders?
Purchased at the Tattersalls Ascot yearling sale, where we purchased the above mentioned Ventura Rebel this time last year, this filly is by SHOWCASING. Read more about her sire here:https://www.whitsburymanorstud.co.uk/showcasemain.html "Lot 72: NEW TOP LOT!!! The Whitsbury Manor Stud consigned Showcasing colt out of the winner Hot Secret heads the days sale & is sold to Aidan O'Ryan/Middleham Park Racing/Richard Fahey for £50,000." One of the sires of the moment has to be the sensational Showcasing, Whitsbury Manor’s showpiece stallion. He’s been quite a revelation at stud, from the quite humble beginnings of a £5000 initial nomination fee. We can’t tell you how thrilled we were to secure the Tattersalls Ascot Sales’ topper, for £50,000, this beautiful, loose moving yearling filly. She really ticked all our boxes at the sale and we knew it would prove to be very tough, amongst the opposition, to bring her home to Musley Bank. We’ve had to dig really deep, but rest assured, we’ve been able to secure for this filly’s future owners, a no compromise individual, who in addition, packs a hugely punchy page.
As we say, she really does have it all; the looks AND the pedigree to back it up, including hailing from the family of the Champion Sprinter Lochnager. She’s out of a Sakhee’s Secret mare, who is renowned for speed, and under the fine tutelage of Richard Fahey, we can really envisage this filly heading for the track in April of her 2yo career, 2020, over 5f and going on to grace many a festival turf, throughout next season, all being well.
Quite what her performance limits could be, would be very much open to debate, but from a mare who has already produced a very talented performer by Swiss Spirit, our filly’s potential could be limitless. Being by a stallion who has already produced a champion female sprinter, in his short career, who would back against Showcasing (also the sire of the colt ADVERTISE), producing another champion, in the form of this superbly bred, sales’ topper?
Being by Showcasing, she ought to carry with her, a fair residual value for the paddocks and assuming she wins a race or even a black type race, her worth could become astronomical, who knows? However, we dare to dream!
She has been broken in at the same livery yard, we used to break in the above mentioned VENTURA REBEL last year and NINETYTHREETWENTY the previous year, so there’s every reason to hope that this filly can follow in their illustrious hoof-steps.
Please see videos of her in the gallery.
Training Update (4th March): She is shaping well at Musley Bank, the team haven’t asked anything too serious of her yet, nor has Richard asked too much of any of the 2 year old fillies at this stage, given the changing weather, but she was upsides this morning and she shows up well in Richards words. She really is a beautiful looking filly.
