Purchased at the Tattersalls Book 2 Sale, he is by the 2020 leading first crop sire in Europe, MEHMAS and is from the family of 2,000 Guineas winner GOLAN. Timeform say: "Second foal: dam unraced out of winning half-sister to 2000 Guineas/King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner Golan, a very good family."

Mehmas made an electric start to his career at stud with over 60 winners and the likes of the Clive Cox-trained Gr.1 Middle Park Stakes and Gr.2 Richmond Stakes winner SUPREMACY, Gr. 2 Gimcrack Stakes winner MINZAAL, Gr 2 July Stakes winner LINSAIL, Gr.3 winners FAYATHAAN, GOING GLOBAL, KEEPER OF TIME and BEAUTY INSPIRE. Read all about his sire here:

Every other year or so, racing unearths a new stallion star and MEHMAS is every inch of that. He broke the all-time record for winners for a first season sire, which is amazing, in a season curtailed by the Covid-19 virus.

A Phoenix Beach is the most fluent walker, so we took no time at all to decide that we wanted him aboard our roster, for Richard Fahey to train.

Racing Update: A young, lightly raced, winning sprinter by Mehmas, he just got bogged down in the ground on seasonal debut at the Doncaster Lincoln meeting. A previous winner over sprint distances he seems equally effective at 5f or 6f. Goes well at Ripon and has to be respected, whenever he visits there. He had good AW firm so he’s very adaptable and will offer owners, all year-round action from hereon in. Good, fun horse. His race entries/declarations will show on this page. Timeform rated: 80.
