BORDEAUX LE BOUSCAT
Purchased at the Arqana October Yearling Sale, this colt is 'French Owner Premiums' qualified and is by INTELLO. Please see a video of his walk attached to this page.
We like to think we have an eye for a nice horse; a horse who is very well put together and who moves well too. In addition, we like to think that rather than accept the widely held beliefs in racing, which contribute to "fashion," that we are able to think outside the box a little too and in the case of the sire Intello, we believe there is something of a dynasty starting to appear. Our initial observations, being prompted by our own 3yo son of Intello, Lexington Empire-now the winner of three races, having being purchased rather inexpensively as a yearling for 20,000gns. Our observations have led us to discover that Intello, as a stallion, is well ahead of where he should be at this point in his career. Initially standing at Cheveley Park Stud before moving to Haras Du Quesnay, he has swiftly been recalled to their main roster, given the fantastic start his runners have had, from a relatively modest covering fee. His eldest runners are now 3yo's yet he's already sired the classic placed Group 1 winner Intellogent in France and the Chester Vase and Group 3 St Simon Stakes winning Young Rascal, who also ran in The Epsom Derby. He has a massive, for one so young, 13% black type horses to runners percentage, a 35% European winners to runners in stakes races and a 20% winners to runners percentage in Worldwide Group 1 races at the time of writing. We're pretty convinced he's on the brink of something special.
It should come as little surprise maybe that he's on his way to greatness, given he's a son of the mighty Galileo, out of a Danehill mare, bred by the awesome Wertheimer et Frère breeding dynasty in France, breeders of Goldikova etc etc no less.
To be able to be part of Intello's journey, initially with our inexpensively purchased Lexington Empire and now this fabulously bred colt, is quite a privilege for us at MPR. The mare of our colt is non too shabby either, she's already produced horses rated 114, 104, 100, 91 and 89 from her 6 runners to win to date. There's quite a healthy chance that we've got a really talented individual on our hands here, in the shape of this outstanding, chestnut son of Intello. He's a smashing individual, he's got some size about him, but not too much. He possesses a lovely balance to his movement and he carries himself well and in a super, fluent manner. He looks to be a really super package that will afford us great opportunities, going forward. He's not going to be a March or April debutant in 2019, he's the sort of horse who could come to hand in time for Royal Ascot and The Chesham Stakes (for which he qualifies) but we'll more likely see him debut around June or July time, something akin to debutants for us and Richard Hannon like BOITRON and TIGRE DU TERRE.
It's anyone's guess how good he could be, however we'd doubt that neither this fellow's sire nor dam would get in his way of being a top class prospect.
Renowned and respected journalist James Willoughby has just published a list of "9 Stallions Set for International Stardom," one of which is Intello. We have added a screenshot of his write up in the gallery.
