A Terrific Treble!

Mon 25 Apr 2022

WINNER 31 OF 2022: AIRSHOW, trained by Rod Millman and ridden by Ross Coakley: 'The Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Handicap ' over 5f at Bath.

He's been running on the AW through the winter and this was a first visit for him back on the turf since September. Taken down early, which is customary for him, he broke well, which is also customary! Bowling along to the fore, Ross gave him a shake up 2f out and he moved into the lead. Keeping on well inside the final furlong, he was always doing enough, to win by 1 and a 1/4 lengths, with ears pricked as he crossed the line. A fantastic 9th career win for the likeable speed ball and his third at Bath.

Timeform rated it as a joint career best effort of 88, saying: "Easy to back, nevertheless took full advantage of this lower mark on turf, probably value a little extra too given the way he maintained a strong pace; pressed leader, travelled well, led over 1f out, kept on well; he'll continue to give a good account no matter the surface.”

Rod Millman gave a lovely interview with Mick Fitzgerald on Sky Sports Racing, saying: "He loves this track. He is talented, if a little highly strung, but good on his day. He is one of the yard favourites!”

WINNER 32 OF 2022: MENSEN ERNST, trained by Simone Brogi and ridden by Jordan Plateaux: 'The Prix de Toulouse' over 2,650m at Auch, in France.

He had a 'pipe opener' 6 days ago and lined up yesterday over the trip that he has won over before. Starting a little tardily, he soon made up ground with his long stride and settled into midfield. It was a race that seemed to change in pace every furlong and the order was constantly altering. Around the final turn, Jordan kicked on and he pulled away, to win "très facilement" (very easily) as the commentator said, by 2 lengths.

Tim says: "He has been an absolute star for his owners, now earning over €131,000 for them, winning a superb 10 times since his move to France. Simone Brogi has done a fantastic job with him. Well done to his syndicate."

WINNER 33 OF 2022: ADMIRALITY, trained by Roger Fell and ridden by Jason Hart: 'The Every Race Live on Racing TV Handicap' over 7f at Wetherby.

He lined up in reduced field, after the going changes, but it was still a tight affair. Jason has him tracking the leader and was going easily 3f out. Last off the bridle, he was pushed along and got to the front 1f out, getting unbalanced inside the final furlong, but he kept on to win comfortably.

Tim says: "A deserved win for his patient set of owners - Ventura Racing, Salthouse & Roger Fell. Well done!"

Wonderful to bring up a treble yesterday and the year we have had so far is quite a way ahead of where we were at this time last year - and that was a record breaking one! Congratulations to all owners and well done to the trainers for their hard work. We must also thank Rod for his kind words in his interview at Bath and for their social media post. We look forward to seeing Cuban Mistress on the track soon!
