The MPR and Richard Fahey 2-year-old success story!

We have a superb record with our juveniles trained by Richard. His is our only trainer who has sent 2-year old’s that we have purchased as yearlings, to race at Royal Ascot – every year since 2017! Simmy’s Copshop, Ninetythreetwenty and Ventura Rebel are these trailblazers and we think our new purchases are a step up again in quality.

The owners of Ninetythreetwenty and Ventura Rebel accepted multiple six figure offers for both these 2-year olds and consequently earned a fantastic profit, so we do know how to buy a talented yearling for Mr Fahey to train. Listed and Group winning fillies Sandiva and Lily's Angel were also superstars for us trained at Musley Bank.

Our 2019 Ripon, Hornblower Conditions race winner, Ventura Lightning (Timeform OR 100), bought in 2019 as a breeze-up colt, is one to look forward to back on the turf this season.

Purchased at the GOFFS PREMIER YEARLING SALE, this filly is by SHOWCASING. Read more about her sire here: https://www.whitsburymanorstud.co.uk/showcasemain.html

There are few new stallions that have ever made such an impact from relatively humble beginnings as Showcasing, with perhaps only Dark Angel being on a par. Showcasing has the huge ability to upgrade his mares and to add value to the quality to which their offspring perform.

A high-class sprinter himself, winning the Duke Of York Stakes, his progeny include the mighty Advertise and Quiet Reflection amongst many, many more. His stud career began with a covering fee of just £5000, but it has risen sharply and rapidly to its current £55,000. Conceived off a £35,000 cover in 2017 we believe we have stepped in for this filly at just the right time, to secure a fantastic, value purchase in the shape of this daughter of such a progressive young stallion.

Our filly, out of a very speedily bred Kyllachy mare, hails from a pedigree steeped in black type and Group performers. She is a half-sister to a talented 2yo by Swiss Spirit and the hope would be that Showcasing would impart both speed a talent, that could perhaps surpass those of Swiss Spirit. She’s a great mover and covers the ground fantastically well and we can envisage her stride pattern, simply eating up the ground, when we see her in her faster paces, as she progresses through her training programme.

She has been broken in at the same livery yard, we used to break in the above mentioned VENTURA REBEL last year and NINETYTHREETWENTY the previous year, so there’s every reason to hope that this filly can follow in their illustrious hoof-steps.

Please see her videos in the gallery.

Syndicate Manager Update (16th Oct): She made a nice debut to finish 4th at Catterick, which Timeform summed up well: "Made a promising start to career, looking green but getting the hang of things late on; dwelt, held up, headway out wide 1f out, kept on; will improve. Today she  had her second start at Haydock, where she missed the break and ran on to finish 4th once again. Racing TV commented that she "Ran with credit." Syndicate manager Tom says: "A similar performance there to that of debut, and once again she travelled into the race very eye-catchingly after making life a little hard for herself at the start by surrendering a few lengths to the whole pack. It was the type of run that she will again come on for mentally, you can visually see just how green and inexperienced she was."

Pedigree Update (19th September): "The colt's victory on Saturday took Showcasing's stud record to 91 stakes performers, a list that now includes 22 Group winners." Showcasing's son Alkumait wins the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury: https://www.racingpost.com/bloodstock/bloodstock-latest/shades-of-mohaather-as-showcasings-son-alkumait-slams-mill-reef-rivals/451250
